The Trinity Young Adults Fellowship (YAF) of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Trinity Congregation in Kutunse, Accra, was officially established on February 5, 2012. The fellowship's origins, however, trace back to 2009 when key members of the congregation recognized the growing need to organize the young adults within the church. At the time, the relevant age group for the fellowship—young adults between the ages of 30 and 40—was small, but the vision was clear: to create a space for fellowship, growth, and service that would evolve alongside the church.
In the early days, Yaw Agyei-Agyepong, Tina Amaniampong, and Betty Agyei-Agyepong came together with the support of the catechist (now Rev. William Opare Akotuah) and the then-President of the Ga Mission Field YAF (now Rev. David Armah Ayebeng-Dormon) to form the foundation of the group. However, there was a challenge: the target age group was not large enough to create a sustainable fellowship. Despite this, they proceeded to start with the handful of interested members, co-opting a few younger individuals into the group to help establish it. The group began with just five members—Yaw Agyei-Agyepong, Tina Amaniampong, Betty Agyei-Agyepong, Victoria Odama, and Gloria Gyang-Duah. By 2010, the membership grew to 20, and by 2011, the fellowship had reached 26 members.
In February 2012, the fellowship was officially inaugurated with its first executive committee. The members were energized by the vision of creating a vibrant group that would contribute to the spiritual and social life of the church. By the time of its inauguration, the fellowship had expanded to 30 members, with 10 males and 20 females. This marked the beginning of a steady growth trajectory that would continue over the years.
Through the years, the leadership and membership of YAF evolved, as it became a cornerstone of the young adult community within the church. In the early years, the group faced challenges such as limited membership and resources, but with determination, the fellowship thrived. The group hosted various events, contributed to church projects, and supported the spiritual development of its members. For example, in 2013, the group made its first significant donation to the church, contributing two canopies. By 2015, the fellowship had purchased a projector for the church and had also signed up for waste management services to help keep the church premises clean.
In 2018, the group took another important step in its mission by donating Bibles and Junior Youth (JY) T-shirts to children transitioning into the Junior Youth service. That same year, they also established a tuck shop within the church premises to generate additional revenue to support their activities.
One of the fellowship's significant contributions to the church was in 2022, when the group donated 100 bags of cement to support the construction of the church manse. This act exemplified the group's commitment not only to spiritual growth but also to tangible service to the church and the broader community.
Throughout its history, the Trinity YAF has celebrated milestones and continued to grow in both size and influence. For example, the fellowship celebrated YAF Day in 2023 by donating plastic chairs, hymn books, and other resources to the children’s service, further solidifying its connection with the younger members of the church. In 2024, the group continued its tradition of outreach and service by celebrating YAF Day with the Junior Youth, providing refreshments and financial support for their upcoming excursion.
In April 2025, a new group of executives were elected and inducted to continue the work of fellowship.
The history of Trinity YAF is a testament to the resilience, vision, and community spirit of its members. From its humble beginnings, the group has blossomed into an integral part of the church, providing young adults with a space for fellowship, spiritual growth, and service. As the fellowship moves forward, its members remain committed to upholding the values of love, service, and growth that have defined Trinity YAF since its inception.
